a milestone in my life

my usual activity once a week - mahjong! i played for roughly 3 hours y'day with some colleagues of mine and i've finally reached a milestone in all my years of playing - the '13 yao' combination... no easy feat i must say and those of you who play will have a good idea how rarely someone can win with that combination. friday the 13th - unlucky, you say? i believe that my luck has finally turned around.

i've been quite lost in the last 16 months, not really knowing what i'm doing most of the time. i spent my time idling at home, instead of being of work. in my line of work, discipline and focus both play big parts - unfortunately, both of which i seriously lack. yet, i enjoy the hours when i'm at work, doing what i do best. mid-week, i spent quite a few hours attending an industry congress and y'know what, i think i've finally find a direction - where i wanna go and who i wanna be. pray for me, will ya? for i know i am capable of greater things!

otah otah... yummy!

i just finished watching another HK TVB drama serial about reincarnation starring my favourite HK actor, julian cheung. oh my gawd! he's such a cutie! anyway, the show really got me thinking once again; is it really possible that there's some truth about reincarnation? who or what could i be in my previous life? a close friend used to always tell me that i'm probably a mermaid in my previous life (again, do mermaids even exist?) coz i love scuba diving and i constantly have recurring dreams about swimming deep in the sea. interesting but i'm not convinced. what about you? do you believe in reincarnation? oh well, but there's really no way of finding out, is there?

on another note, i made some otah yesterday with the tuna that i caught while holidaying in phuket. my first attempt but very yummy! for the uninititated, otah is a mixture of sambal, coconut and fish paste wrapped in banana leaf and grilled over a fire (or in my case, an oven). i'm a true blue peranakan and i just love cooking (and eating, of course)!
