why i cannot be a food blogger

i love yummy food, there's no denying and thus, i cannot be a food blogger. the minute a mouthwatering plate of food ends up on the table, (hb &) i 'attack' it ferociously and thus, we'll (hardly) be able to take a decent photo of the dish untouched. :)

two weeks ago, on our fifth wedding anniversary, we decided to do something different. instead of the usual fine-dining-romantic-ambience-all-dressed-up-wine-foie-gras-combination, we went to geylang and no! its not what you think! there was no hanky panky!! instead we went to 'surrender' ourselves to (infamous) Danny of Sin Huat fame. Mind you, Anthony Bourdain featured him on a tour to Singapore and rates him as one of the BEST in the world!

no, it was not our 1st time there so we know about the (long) wait and (exhorbitant) prices. after waiting for about 45 mins, danny came out to take our order - our intention was just to have crab beehoon + veggie + one more dish but we ended up with crab beehoon + stirfried veggie + steamed garlic prawn + steamed gong gong + 6 drinks. the bill came up to almost $150 (for two of us) - considering it was a coffeeshop, many will say that its not worth the price tag. oh well, we happen to be those who think it is. anyway, we left lorong 35 after 2.5 hours extremely satisfied and until now, the yummy taste is still lingering in our mouth (and thoughts) but unfortunately, with that kinda price tag, it means that we can't eat there very often. what a bugger :

the only photos we managed to take...

steamed garlic prawn (as you can see, we were already half-way through the dish)

emotional neglect = emotional abuse?

now that i've joined the ranks of SAHM, i can't help but wonder... is our self worth measured by fancy job titles and the size of our pay cheques? i've read about it before and now i'm experiencing it. modern men lose all respect for their wives when they decide to stay home and nurture the young. they think that they are the only ones 'WORKING'. why not swap roles and experience it for yourself? aren't SAHM contributing to the society by spending quality time bringing up the next generation? am i wrong to want to give the best to my baby?

i have been feeling emotionally neglected for a while now - no word of thanks or praise for all that i've done. no flowers, presents, not even a note on special occasions. no sensitivity nor tenderness when i feel down. no support nor understanding when i'm going against the grain. not even gentle probing on what is wrong. easy to brush me off with a ' i-cannot-handle-emotions' attitude, isn't it? just go off to sleep and hope the problems just go away when the sun rises. i'm sick and tired of being treated like this. i have emotions and i have needs just like every other human being you come into contact with.

and like any other woman, i hope to be loved, romanced and even better, put on a pedestal. does being a mother make me less of a woman now? am i not attractive now that my breasts have become functional? is my expectation too high or did i just make the wrong choice?

to me, emotional neglect = emotional abuse... both are as tormenting to the soul!

what's wrong with the children of this country?

i had lunch y'day with a gal fren and seated opposite us were a bunch of school gals in their uniforms. as expected, they were rowdy and laughing away. after about twenty minutes into our lunch, we noticed that they were playing with the items on the conveyor belt in the sushi bar. first, they took all the wasabi containers off the conveyor belt and after which, put them ALL together back on to the conveyor belt. next, were the colored plates. they 'kind-heartedly' tried to sort out the plates according to their color by removing and placing them on the conveyor belt. its obvious that they were having lots of fun as they whipped out their camera phones to take photos of their creations. such a weird sense of humour - is it that fun? sorry but i really don't appreciate people 'playing' with my food! did they have nothing better to do? when they stood up, our jaws dropped! they were from one of the top gal schools in this little isle! what happened to the upbringing of this generation?

our gahmen is at it again

mr brown's column in the local papers has been suspended indefinitely... sigh... what can i say? anyone read 'the media entralled'? - this book clearly outlines the fate of various newspapers that used to exist on this little island and how we ended up with one main publication now... and the fate of various editors, journalists who were labelled as 'partisan' politicians just coz they wrote about something that 'should not be' discussed!

what i don't understand - why are we behaving like kids? why can't honest opinions and feedback be taken as it? sometimes i really dislike this gahmen and their high-handed ways of dealing with things. someone said something about democracy?

on a side note : is it me or there's absolutely nothing to buy this sale?? so boring... for a shoppaholic like me to say there is nothing to buy, this sale has to be really sad! what is 10%, 15% discount?? its the great sale for goodness sake! why can't we have sale like hk? 70% 80% 90% discount?
